Named after the vibrant grandmother of Marisa, a member of our community, these statement earrings feature sapphire blue and crystal Swarovski® stones on a nickel-free polished gold electroplated brass backing.
"These reminded me of my grandmother, Florence. Her eyes are as bright blue as the sapphires in these earrings," Marisa said. In the 50s and 60s Florence was was fierce ally and advocate for Civil Rights and racial equality. She fell in love with Marisa's grandfather bi-racial, black-Chinese man, and continued to fight for justice despite her family's disapproval. "She never stopped talking about the beauty of mixing things up and created a huge, beautiful, and dynamic family who fights for justice in all ways." Florence has overcome adversity and her strength has endured. Her light still shines today, as Marisa recalls watching her Nana dancing with joy at her recent wedding!
